Problem
I run Windows 7 Ultimate (RC) on a four year on a Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz machine with 1GB. It is totally responsive, and my steady state memory usage is around 512MB. So I was wondering if anyone had experience of running Windows 7 acceptably on older hardware.

Fix for: Oldest PC running Windows 7
Low Risk
On The Windows Club, someone claims to have run Windows 7 on a circa-1997, 266MHz Pentium II with 96MB RAM and a 4MB video card, but it took 17 hours to install and booted in 17 minutes... A Pentium III with 512 MB should already perform much better…
