Insert Unicode characters via the keyboard?
Problem
I am familiar with inserting an ASCII character into a text document by using 'Alt+ASCII code' on the NumPad keys (e.g. Alt+130 inserts an é character). Is there a similar way to insert a Unicode character via the keyboard using the unicode value given in Windows Character Map?

According John D. Cook there are 3 ways: In Microsoft Word you can insert Unicode characters by typing the hex value of the character then typing Alt-x. You can also see the Unicode value of a character by placing the cursor immediately after the character and pressing Alt-x.
