Switching back to last *used* tab on Chrome

How do I toggle back to the last tab used in Chrome on Mac? Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab navigates the tabs in order. But I want to switch back and forth between two tabs similar to how how Cmd-Tab switches between the last two apps. There's a way to do this on Firefox but is there a solution for Chrome?

Can I move hiberfil.sys to another drive?

I am running out of space on my %SYSTEMDRIVE% on Windows. There is file that size of it is almost 3GB. I understand that is used for the windows hibernation feature. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13770/windows-shut-down-sleep-hibernate-your-pc The Hiberfil.sys hidden system file is located in the root folder of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to how much random access memory (RAM) is installed on the computer. The computer uses the Hiberfil.sys file to store a copy of the system memory on the hard disk when the hybrid sleep setting is turned on. If this file is not present, the computer cannot hibernate. I don't want to disable the hibernatation feature. Is there any way to move to another drive other than ?

Change default action on connecting a USB device

I've a device I connect to my windows computer (in this case it is an iPod but I don't believe that matters). Often when I first connect such devices a dialog will pop up giving a list of actions with a check box saying something like "do this as the default" or "always do this". For some reason when I first used this device I selected open a folder to view files and had the always check-box checked. I wish I'd pressed do nothing, now when I connect the device this annoying file folder pops up and I just have to close it. How can I get the default USB action for this device to change?

How to ignore certain filenames using "find"?

One of my favorite BASH commands is: which searches the contents of all of the files at and below the current directory for the specified SearchString. As a developer, this has come in handy at times. Due to my current project, and the structure of my codebase, however, I'd like to make this BASH command even more advanced by not searching any files that are in or below a directory that contains ".svn", or any files that end with ".html" The MAN page for find kind of confused me though. I tried using -prune, and it gave me strange behavior. In an attempt to skip only the .html pages (to start), I tried : and did not get the behavior I was hoping for. I think I might be missing the point of -prune. Could you guys help me out? Thanks

Linux: find out what process is using all the RAM?

Before actually asking, just to be clear: yes, I know about disk cache, and no, it is not my case :) Sorry, for this preamble :) I'm using CentOS 5. Every application in the system is swapping heavily, and the system is very slow. When I do , here is what I got: So, I actually have only 42 Mb to use! As far as I understand, actually doesn't count the disk cache, so I indeed only have 42 Mb, right? I thought, I might be wrong, so I tried to switch off the disk caching and it had no effect - the picture remained the same. So, I decided to find out who is using all my RAM, and I used for that. But, apparently, it reports that no process is using my RAM. The only process in my top is MySQL, but it is using 0.1% of RAM and 400Mb of swap. Same picture when I try to run other services or applications - all go in swap, shows that MEM is not used (0.1% maximum for any process). Restart doesn't help, and, by they way is very slow, which I wouldn't normally expect on this machine (4 cores, 4Gb R…

How should I choose my DNS?

When I have to choose my DNS I think that I should consider: Speed Reliability Privacy Control (reports and stats) The main options that come to my mind, and how I weigh them according to the above factors, are: My ISP = faster (closer to me) but less privacy (they can associate my DNS requests to myself) OpenDNS and such = more control and more privacy (all they have is one of my e-mail addresses) Google = less privacy (they can associate my DNS requests to my Google Account and my searches) What weighting factors, or other options, have I missed?

How to make Excel's "Auto Fit Row Height" feature actually auto fit the row height?

For every generation of Excel I can remember (including 2010, which I'm using now), Excel's "Auto Size Row" features sometimes fails to actually auto size a row when the cell contains wrapped text. When it works properly, all the text is revealed and there is no additional space below the last line of text. When it fails, it adds extra space below the text. To make matters worse, what you see is not always what you get, i.e., text that appeared okay on screen gets cut off when it's printed. You also get different sizing depending on whether you are zoomed in/out or at actual size. Simple test case: Why is there a one-line gap after the text in cell A1 but not in A2? (To reproduce: set width of column A to 17.14 (125 pixels), text wrap on, and cell alignment top.) (I double-checked that I applied Auto Fit Row Height to both rows. Zoom level is 100%.) Is there any known remedy for this without resorting to manually adjusting the row heights (which is not practical for more than a handfu…

Download all mail messages from Gmail including Sent folder items

How can I download all the messages from a Gmail account, including the Sent folder items, when a normal POP fetch will only grab the inbox items? My wife recently died, and she gave me access to her Gmail account. While I'm not sure whether or not I want to read the messages in there, I do want to make a backup copy of both the sent and received messages. Ideally, the backup copy would be accessible to me offline, though this is not strictly necessary. I could grab the inbox via POP3, but that wouldn't get me the sent messages. I have desktops running Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. I have legal access to the account and I'm not interested in any future emails, only in the current state of her inbox.

How do I start Chrome using a specified "user profile"?

I use the new built-in "Users" feature of Chrome to switch between Home/Work accounts easily. However, Chrome remembers the "last" user profile you had selected when launching new windows. This is a problem if I close down my "Home" profile last, because when I then click the Email shortcut on my taskbar, because it goes to mail.mycompany.com using my Home profile, and I'm not logged in. I'd like to change the shortcut to the company webmail to pass a switch that tells Chrome to always start as the "Default" user, regardless of the last one used. Note: I have tried the command-line parameter , and this seems to do something very different, completely isolated from the Users functionality built in to Chrome. It's possible I'm using it wrong, but please test this before assuming it does the same thing and posting an answer ;-)

Using GIMP, what is the easiest way to repeat an image in a tiled fashion?

I have an image that is 100×125 pixels in size. I'd like to create a new image by repeating the source image, five times, horizontally (so the new image is 500×125px). The repetitions must be pixel perfect, in exactly the right place (so I'm less likely to accept an answer that requires placement by eye-balling). What's the easiest way to do this using GIMP?

Why is dial up so slow?

On a dial-up Internet connection, why is the speed is limited to 56 kbits/s compared to a broadband Internet connection which may carry 10 times as much as dial up through that same telephone line? Is it because the dial up is limited to 56 kbits/s by the ISP? Does the ISP amplify the speed when you order broadband?

How do I convert an SVG to a PDF on Linux

How do I convert an SVG (containing a few words of latin text and some simple vector graphics) to a PDF on Linux? I tried Inkscape 0.47 on Ubuntu Lucid, but it moves some sub-graphics randomly, and it makes some lines shorter in the output PDF. So its output is useless, because the graphics looks completely different. I tried opening the SVG in Google Chrome 16 and printing it to PDF, but it distorts all the colors, and it also removes some elements. (The SVG appears fine on screen, but it's already bad in the print preview and the generated PDF is also bad) I don't want to rasterize or render the SVG. A solution which converts the SVG to a bitmap image and then creates a PDF with the image embedded is not an answer to my question. (FYI Inscape 0.47 renders the text is a very ugly way, without antialiasing, when rendering to PNG) Qre there any other options?
