Windows utility to render which key I am pressing on-screen

I'm giving training to a large group of people remotely and will be covering a number of application shortcut keys. I've seen MousePose's on-screen display of keystrokes; is there a way to get this same effect but for key presses? I do not need anything fancy, just key presses displayed on screen where they can be captured by meeting software during a screen share. I haven't been able to figure this out myself.

Automatically mount external drives to /media/LABEL on boot without a user logged in?

This question is similar, but kind of the opposite of what I want. I want external USB drives to be mounted automatically at boot, without anyone logged in, to locations like . I don't want to have to enter all the data into fstab, partially because it's tedious and annoying, but mostly because I can't predict what I'll be plugging into it or how the partitions will change in the future. I want the drives to be accessible to things like MPD, and available when I log in with SSH. seems to only mount things when you are locally logged into a Gnome graphical session.

How do I enable VT-X?

I'd like to provide a guest OS with multiple CPUs in VirtualBox. My host machine is a quad core HP Compaq and uses the Intel Core 2 vPro hardware. However, when I try to enable the setting in vbox, I get an error that VT-x is not available. Is this something that I can enable somewhere? how do I find out otherwise whether my hardware supports it? edit: per suggestions below, I tried using the Securable tool, and it reports that hardware virtualization is "Locked Off". The processors are reported as "Intel Core 2 Quad CPU / Q9400 @ 2.66GHz"

How can I restore copy/paste functionality for my remote desktop connection?

My question has been asked on superuser before, but the accepted answer did not work for me. Sometimes when using remote desktop on my Windows 7 computer, the copy-paste functionality between the remote desktop and my computer suddenly stops working. How can I restore it? I have looked at Fixing copy/paste for Remote Desktop Connection sessions and SQLAuthority News – Fix : Remote Desktop Copy Paste Stop Working But killing and restarting rdpclip doesn't seem to work for me. How can I fix this? This is driving me a bit crazy. Restarting the computer or the remote desktop connection doesn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?

Does Windows still rely on MS-DOS?

I am just about to start an OS course and as an Apple user I am not very familiar with the underlying details of Windows OS. I was wondering, is MS DOS still used with Windows running on top or is ONLY Windows used now as the OS? I was a little confused because I read somewhere that MS-DOS is used for booting but Windows has all other OS capabilities built into it and thus is used for all other OS operations...

How to extract vectors from a PDF file?

I have a PDF file with vector images inside it. (I downloaded it from the internet, so I do not have any originals.) I wish to extract the vectors so that I can overlay them on some other images; use them in print media, or on a website. How do I extract the specific vectors from the PDF file? Is there, perhaps, any software which can extract the vectors from a PDF file? (Preferably free.)

How can I shut down the PC after specified amount of time?

How would you go about turning you computer after a specified amount of time? I listen music before I go to sleep and would like to be able to shutdown my computer after a specified amount of time. After ½ an hour say. It would be cool if you could connect a desktop shortcut to a task in scheduler so you click the shortcut and ½ an hour later it shuts down.

Notepad++: Ctrl-S does not Save, instead inserts [DC3]; Ctrl-F inserts [ACK]

I've been using Notepad++ more as my primary code editor. Just a few minutes ago, however, I accidentally pressed some combination of keys (no idea what I pressed) and suddenly my standard shortcut keys no longer work. When I press Ctrl-S, it doesn't save my document; instead it inserts this funky little "DC3" character (looks like a rounded black rectangle with white text inside). When I press Ctrl-F (the Find key) I get a similar "ACK" symbol. The only answer I've found on the web has to do with changing your shortcut key mappings; however my shortcut key mappings have NOT CHANGED at all, they are still set as they should be, with Ctrl-S mapping to "Save" and Ctrl-F mapping to "Find..". I've clearly switched to some bizarre alternate key mode, but I have no idea what that might be or how to get rid of it. Update: I've played around a bit more to see what other shortcuts are broken. So far, they all seem to be, except for the Windows standard ones like "Ctrl-X" and "Ctrl-V". Here's a…

Determine the architecture of a Mac from the command line or script?

I'm writing a shell script, and I need to know the architecture, i.e. PPC or Intel. Back in the day, there was a program that told you, but my Mac doesn't seem to have it. Is there an easy way I can do this? for something in a log file? Call some other program that spits that out as a side effect? It would be nice to know what OS version I'm running too, but that may not be necessary.

How do ALSA and PulseAudio relate?

While trying to get my sound to work, I was wondering about the roles of ALSA and PulseAudio. I have both installed and was wondering, for example, which of them needs to know about my sound card. Both seem to be able to use each other, there's a pulseaudio plugin for ALSA, and on my system, alsa shows up as a sound card in pulseaudio. Which of the two does what, are they alternatives or complementary?

Force Chrome to sync bookmarks?

I've been using Chrome's built in bookmark sync which seems to work well. Is there a way to force Chrome to do the sync as opposed to waiting for the alloted 'sync time'? Update: Seems to sync when I restart Chrome, so that works. Would be nice to have a "sync button" equivalent..

Add permanent SSL certificate exception in Chrome (Linux)

I have a problem with a website that has an SSL certificate which doesn't correspond to the website domain. Chrome gives me a warning for this website (and rightly so), which I have to ignore manually. Every time I restart Chrome, I need to ignore the certificate issue again. I've tried adding the certificate as a trusted one with , using and trustargs, but it doesn't work. I can't find a set of trustargs that will tell it to ignore which domain is using the certificate. Is there a way to tell Chrome (or certutil) to trust this certificate whatever domain uses it?

How to re-map command and option keys on Mac OS X with a PC-keyboard?

in my keyboard the command key is mapped to the windows key (I'm using a regular PC keyboard) so I only have a left command, because the space on the right is occupied by the useless Fn key. I've used Ukelele and also edited keyboard mappings but that's for printable characters, doesn't actually allow you to map modifier keys on the keyboard. Thanks!
