Laptop power supplies, does current matter?
I have two laptops (same manufacture), with the same type of power connector. However, the power supplies/transformers are slightly different. The output on the first laptop's power supply is 15.6 V at 8.0 A. The output on the second laptop's power supply is 15.6 V at 5 A. Clearly the voltages are the same, but the currents are different. I assume the second laptop's power supply can not be used on the first, because it can't supply enough power to the laptop. However, can the first laptop's power supply be safely used on the second laptop?
Copying PNG with transparency from browser shows a black background instead
When I copy a PNG image with transparency to the clipboard and subsequently paste it into Photoshop, Paint, etc. - the transparency turns to black. Is there any workaround for this? Is this a browser issue, an application issue or an OS issue with the clipboard? I'm using Windows 7 and tested with the latest versions of Chrome and Internet Explorer.
How to make the PC speaker beep from the Windows 7 command prompt?
I'm running some lengthy video encodes using the Handbrake command line interface. After all my encodes are done, I would like to have the PC speaker beep, as I usually turn my large external speakers off. On Linux I would install the "beep" package, but so far I haven't found such a program for Windows 7. Possibly related links: Microsoft Support: System "Beep" sound does not function in Windows Vista x64 with HD Audio devices (I am indeed using an HD Audio device: the SoundMAX ADI1986A) MSDN Blog: What’s up with the Beep driver in Windows 7? Edit: The question seems to have morphed into "How to make Windows 7 beep the PC speaker?", for which the answer provided by HarryMC is the most appropriate.
How can I change the default properties of Visio's connector tool?

What is the best way to create tactile bumps on your keyboard?
I have a laptop keyboard that has some of the functional keys on the right side kind of mixed in with the rest of the keys, so I have to look down to set my hand. For instance, I want to be able to just slide my right hand to the right and feel for the bump that signifies the down arrow so I can navigate around. What is the best way to put a nub or something on there, kind of the way the F and J keys have it?

How do you get multiple rows of tabs in Google Chrome?
Is there any way to get Google Chrome to use multiple rows for tabs? I haven't been able to find an extension, or a mention of this feature coming up in a future release.
Maximize a window on to dual monitors in Windows?

How to find which tab a particular Chrome process refers to
I often have 6 or 7 separate Chrome windows open, often with 5-10 tabs in each. When I look at Windows Task Manager, I see each chrome.exe process, with some using a large amount of memory. How can I find which particular tab the process refers to? I want to know which one uses the most memory and close that tab instead of having to close every Chrome window. Is there any way to get this information? This is on Windows Vista, but it is the same on other versions of Windows as well.

How do you open a folder in OSX using the keyboard?
On Windows, pressing Enter when you highlight on a folder in Windows Explorer will open that folder. Same on Linux. On OSX, pressing Enter when you highlight a folder edits the folder's name (like F2 on Windows and Linux). Is there a keyboard shortcut to do the same thing as on Windows, so that you'll open the folder? It doesn't have to be Enter, but I'd like to know if there's another hotkey that does it. The reason why I ask is because I like to navigate through deep folder structures by using the arrow keys for navigation and Enter to drill down into them.
How to mount an LVM volume?
I'm trying to mount an LVM2 volume in Linux, but all the instructions I see online say to mount the Volume Group, such as: but I don't know how to figure out the name of it. I see the drive in Palimpsest, and that's all the info I know.
USB to wireless to USB… Is it possible?
Is there any USB adapter that you can plug in your PC and will convert the USB output in wireless and then have a second USB adapter that will receive the wireless signal and reconvert it to USB input? The second USB adapter would preferably have to be relatively small. UPDATE: What I'm really trying to do is: a really long USB cable, but without the cable; in other words, "wireless USB". I'm trying to connect a robot that I built and that has a USB port. Of course, I could add a wireless interface but it'd be long and complicated... that's why I came up with this idea. USB hubs aren't really an option since the said robot has to move around.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to "unselect" in Windows Explorer?
If I've got a file (or files) selected in Windows Explorer, the only way I've found to "unselect" them is click with the mouse on some empty space. I thought Esc would do this, but it doesn't. Also changing focus with Tab or Shift + Tab doesn't work; the file(s) are still selected even if focus goes to the address bar for instance. Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut to do this?

Can't type the tilde (~) character in Mac OS X
This is a new problem that I did not have a few weeks ago. I have a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard running on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). The problem is that I cannot type a tilde ( ). Instead when I press the tilde ~ I get this character: I cannot for the life of me figure this out, except that I vaguely remember I can asked to redetect the Mac keyboard layout for this keyboard and I think i chose the wrong one. Now I get this weird character when pressing tilde. How can I fix this? Or how can I redetect this keyboard layout?
