Can I manually add a thumbnail web page to the Chrome homepage?

Is there a way to manually add a web page to the 8 thumbnails that appear when you open Chrome? I want to add Google Maps for easy access. The Google front page already shows up so I presume the Google Maps page never will as it's a subset of Google (i.e. I get to it via the main Google front page). I know I can add a shortcut to the toolbar but would rather add it as a thumbnail. And while I'm here, is it possible to increase the number of thumbnails that appear? I'm running the release/stable version of Chrome in Windows XP.

How can I use my small SSD as a cache for a larger hard disk?

I would like to use a (small) SSD disk as a cache for a large hard disk. I realize there are hardware-based products that do this: HighPoint RocketHybrid HBA, Intel SmartResponse and others. There is only one software-only product that I could find: ExpressCache by Diskeeper: ExpressCache intelligently and automatically combines the best attributes of SSDs and HDDs without any effort or pre-requisite knowledge from the user, so users get the best of both worlds; dynamic performance and scalable capacity. Since SSDs as small as 4GB can be used, it provides an incredibly affordable solution for manufacturers. Comprised of User mode and Kernel Mode components, ExpressCache uses the SSD as an intelligent cache, coupled with an HDD, to improve overall system performance and greatly speed up Windows PC startup, application launches and data access speed. However, this product is OEM only! I looked for alternatives, without any success... I cannot understand this: It sounds like a great idea…

I was trying to install Zend Server CE on my computer but when I got to the point were I need to choose the port for my Web Server it says: "Web Server Port: 80 Occupied". So I decided to check what is using Port 80 with CMD by typing: "netstat -o -n -a | findstr 0.0:80": I check for PID:4 in Task Manager's Processes and Services. Seems PID 4 is "System". So, what I want to know is how can I stop "System" (PID:4) from using Port 80? INFO: I am using: Windows 7 64bit; Zend Server CE 5.5.0

What can I do to retrieve windows that have gone off screen?

I am having a weird issue with a machine where sometimes when a window is initialized, it will shoot off screen and out of sight. I am unable to click on it to drag it back to sight. Are there any programs or fixes for this in Windows XP? I know Windows and other programs like to save window locations after they close so when you reopen them they are in the spot where they were closed and I cannot see any of these windows that were closed off screen.

Is there any way to get bash to have syntax highlighting like fish?

In the fish shell, the actual command line is syntax highlighted: Is there any way to get this same behavior in bash? There is something just like this but for zsh, not bash. Is it possible that this could be ported to bash? To clarify for those who don't understand the screenshot, explanation, or link provided: I want to highlight the actual text that is entered at the terminal. The commands, parentheses, quotes, etc.

Move cursor to beginning of non-whitespace characters in a line in Vim

In Vim, is there a way to move the cursor to the beginning of non-whitespace characters in a line? For instance, how can I move the cursor to the "S" in the second line below? If it matters, I primarily use MacVim, but I'd also like to be able to do this from the console. Thanks!

Can I have multiple ssh keys in my .ssh folder?

Can I create multiple ssh keys, and rename them to user friendly names so I know which key is for which website etc. Is this safe? e.g: How will it know which key to check against when connecting? On my computer now, when I look at known_hosts, they all seem to have the same key after the name of the host??

Make OS X's Quick Look work for custom file extensions

I find Finder's Quick Look feature (launched with Space) very useful, but it works only for a limited number of file extensions. In work I often get .properties, .conf, .ddl and other files which are essentially text, yet in Quick Look their content is never displayed: Is there any way I can tell my Mac to treat those files as text? Thanks!

Windows 7 Task Scheduler doesn't list my custom task(s)

I created a custom task from another application (Peachtree), but it never showed up in the Active Tasks list. So, I created it manually from within the Task Scheduler, but the task still hasn't appeared. I'm afraid I now have two tasks that do the same thing, but I can't change them in any way. What can I do?

What's the difference between an Application, a Process, and a Service?

How are these fundamentally different "things" on Windows? Aren't all running things Processes? It seems that every Application has an associated process that shuts it down if it is shut down. It looks like one process can manage more than one application instance. And Services, I'm not even sure what they are, exactly. Are they not processes themselves?
